Cozy Retreat in Downtown Lancaster with Backyard Patio

Charming, well appointed home with caring management by the owners

Pros: Caring management from the hosts - Kim and Steve go out of their way for their guests including offering free snacks, water, and wine. Plus Kim was super responsive and brought over a few things I needed with a turnaround time of a few minutes! The house is beautifully and comfortably decorated. Loved the beautiful new wood floors and the unique wooden tables. The bed was comfortable. How pleasant it was sitting in the garden with my morning tea and my evening drink. Within a short walk I had access to all of my favorite downtown bars and restaurants. I had a great time and I will be back!

Cons: Going upstairs to use the bathroom was mildly annoying until I got used to it and then it was nothing. A bit of a squeeze between the sink and the toilet. Limited space for toiletries (a bigger cabinet or just an extra shelf could solve this). Right across the street from the hospital was a slight disadvantage in terms of view and noise.

Cons: The parking was a little difficult when all the spots I front of the house are taken. Made us nervous to have to park the vehicle on a different street and walk back to the house in the dark. We are not big city people.

Visited Amish markets all around Lancaster. Also, took the Amtrack into Philly for the day to visit the historical sites

Lovely stay in Lancaster

Pros: I had a great stay! The house was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. There were fans, wireless chargers, snacks, laundry detergent, games, sound machines, and other things I didn’t anticipate needing, but was glad to find at my fingertips! Great location too! Perfect for visiting F&M and sites downtown.

Cons: It’s an old home so the stairs are steep and the only bathroom is upstairs. This might be a consideration for some.

We had a great stay. We were visiting family and visiting some colleges and it was a nice central location.

Pros: Very comfortable and great location. Quieter than I expected with Lancaster General across the street. The sound machines are a nice touch.

Cons: The steps are steep but manageable.

Pros: The property was exceptionally clean and comfortable, making for a perfect getaway. We loved the thoughtful details that made it feel like a home away from home, especially the interactive map in the kitchen where we could place a pin from our hometown and see where other guests had visited from—it added a special, personal touch to our stay.

Cons: The only downside is that the property is close to a hospital, so ambulance sirens can be frequent. While this wouldn’t have deterred us from staying, it might be helpful to inform guests in advance. Additionally, one of the bedroom windows is missing its blinds. Lastly, the 10 AM checkout felt a bit early, as most places allow until 11 AM. That extra hour would have made for a more relaxed morning without feeling rushed. (We loved our stay these small details just would have made it better.)

We enjoyed the house and our time there except for the difficult staircase.

Pros: Cozy Retreat was centrally located downtown for those who like to visit the downtown area. The house was clean and comfortable and Kim was helpful with our requests.

Cons: The only comment I wish I had seen from someone was that the only bathroom was up a very steep flight of stairs. While not a problem for most, it was difficult for us as we are older and had trouble with the stairs.

Pros: Beautiful place right in the center of the town. You can walk everywhere.

Cons: That I didn't stay longer.
