Chestnut Inn at Oquaga Lake

A magical night that we’ll never forget. An absolute highlight of our 2 week trip.

Pros: Such a charming, old school hotel on the absolutely beautiful Oquaga Lake, the cleanest and clearest lake in NY State. It felt a bit like stepping back in time, into the hotel in Dirty Dancing, which is exactly what I’d hoped for. We even met some charming locals and had a singalong around the grand piano. Such a special night, place and people.

Cons: Quite noisy at night.

Pros: beautiful inn in a beautiful setting, super kind staff going out of their way to be helpful, and outstanding food

Cozy throwback lakeside resort

Pros: It was set on a beautiful lake. It was a throwback to the old days of the Catskills resorts. The rooms were small but cozy. There was free breakfast.

Cons: Maybe it was because it was headed to off season but there was no staff. No one to check is in or out. The only staff was at the restaurant. Also there was no fridge in the room. There was only 1 mirror in the room located in the bathroom that was high above the sink. Not good for 2 people getting ready or short people!

A lovely sojourn on the lake with excellent food.

Pros: A lovely location on the lake with beautiful views. The food was amazing and it was so nice to eat on the enclosed porch with a view of the lake.

Cons: The bed was low and just on a platform.

Quiet,restful getaway spot on a beautiful lake...plan on returning every year

Pros: Continental breakfast and coffee service were fine....restaurant was excellent

Cons: Can't think of anything that we didn't like...

Pros: Staff was impeccable, food was extraordinary with great presentation and taste. And you can’t beat viewing at a beautiful calm lake. Very quiet and very restful.

Cons: Bed to low on floor, could use somewhere to get snacks or drinks between breakfast and dinner. Need a better way for folks to get into the lake. My wife couldn’t go swimming, due to nothing but a tiny aluminum ladder.

Hotel muy agradable con unas vistas maravillosas

Pros: Me encantó la atención y amabilidad de todo el personal, se respira un ambiente familiar y agradable. El hotel es sencillo, pero precioso con una ubicación inmejorable. Tengo claro que volveré pronto.

Cons: El desayuno podría ser mejor y más completo, teniendo en cuenta el precio de las habitaciones.

Pros: We love everything about the Chestnut Inn. We checked in early and had some cocktails at the bar. The staff were all exceptionally friendly.

Pros: Lovely old Inn, you can feel the history - dinner was amazing, really pretty place!

Lovely hotel on a hidden gem of a lake.

Pros: Breakfast was adequate, location lovely, staff most friendly and accommodating. We happened to be there on Kentucky Derby weekend which the staff made sure we enjoyed.

Cons: Dinner menu was a bit limited but the food was very good.
