Gifford-Risley House Bed and Breakfast

Hands down the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at—every detail was just right.

Pros: We absolutely loved our stay here—it is the very definition of a genuine bed and breakfast. Zee and Monica clearly take immense pride in creating a special experience, and it shows in every detail. The house itself is really cute and so incredibly well maintained—truly perfectly kept. The common areas are period-perfect, like stepping into Downton Abbey, with ample sitting rooms to relax in and soak up the atmosphere. Breakfast was the highlight. Served in the conservatory, it felt as though we had been transported to Victorian England, dining like landed gentry. Every element was thoughtful, delicious, and beautifully presented. Zee and Monica were charming hosts—attentive without being intrusive, and always going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. This is what perfect looks like. We can’t recommend this B&B highly enough. If you’re looking for an experience that’s elegant, warm, and unforgettable, this is it.

Cons: There is truly nothing not to love about this place. The shower pressure was exceptional—such a rare luxury to have proper water flow where you don’t need to run around just to get wet. The bed was wonderfully comfortable; I’ve stayed in more B&Bs than I can count, and this is honestly as good as it gets. Each room is individually period-themed, and the attention to detail is remarkable. We stayed in the Art Deco room, and every single piece had clearly been chosen with care and precision, creating a space that felt both authentic and special.

A delightful short stay in Media

Pros: This restored period home oozes charm. Each room is decorated in a different style. We had the Art deco room on the top floor which was very comfortable. The location is also good and the shops and cafes on State Street are a short walk away. The biggest attraction is the hospitality of the hosts Z and Monika who go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. Breakfast is not to be missed.

Just amazing b&b

Great location. Beautiful space. Lovely owners.

Pros: The house is beautiful and the owners clearly put their heart and sole into this space. Furthermore, the owners themselves are lovely and very accommodating to specific needs, such as food allergies, room preferences, etc. The rates are reasonable, and it's located only a couple of blocks from State St in Media, where all of the town's restaurants and shops are.

Media is charming and this B&B was perfection- especially capturing the beauty of the season!

Pros: We had 2 of 3 breakfasts (we had to leave early due to a flight change and missed breakfast on the 3rd morning). Breakfast was fresh and delicious.

Gifford-Risley proved to be an ideal B&B, and we expect to be back in the future.

Pros: Monika & Z were gracious hosts. The facilities were uniquely special. Food was great.

Cons: We couldn't figure out how to work the t.v. We're used to cable. Didn't matter much. We weren't in the room that much.

Pros: Z and Monica are exceptional hosts! They made us feel extremely welcome. An early breakfast was prepared for us as we had an early departure on our schedule for the day. Thank you so much for an awesome stay in Media, PA!

Outstanding Guest House in beautiful surroundings.

Pros: Wonderful welcome from Z to this amazing house. We loved the Renaissance Revival room with its own balcony. The breakfasts were really special with a different cooked dish every morning. Monika and Z made us feel relaxed and at home. The Gifford-Risley is conveniently located within walking distance of the small town of Media which has many shops and restaurants. Trains from the station run into Philadelphia regularly and there are also trolley buses.

Cons: Nothing..it was perfect!

Beautiful Property, Good Vibes, Lovely Hosts and Great Value!

Pros: Stunningly beautiful property located just blocks from downtown Media. Hosts were warm and inviting. Our room was lovely, bed was comfortable, plenty of room for our luggage, with additional room to sit and relax. The bathroom was spacious with a nice walk in shower. Outside our room was a large landing area with a coffee/tea station. This home has been impeccably restored and cared for by the owners who were gracious and accommodating. Z gave us many excellent ideas for things to do and places to eat. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We noticed fresh flowers on the dining room table each day, another extra touch, ala Monica, making our experience more delightful. We will certainly return here if business brings us to Media in the future.

Cons: The weather could have been better so we could have enjoyed the outdoor space of this property.

A perfect place to stay while visiting media for a show.
