The Olde Mill Inn Basking Ridge

Good version of the usual US style overnight road junction hotel

Pros: This is a good comfortable hotel for a stop. It has everything required for your stay including a breakfast better than the usual mass produced one, and staff are good.

Cons: The photos on booking.com depict something smaller, more charming and more bijou than the reality- a number are from the adjacent restaurant and they fail to show that it’s actually quite a big hotel right by a freeway. That made it less great value. (PS Booking.com you shouldn’t post “free breakfast for geniuses” as a bonus when it’s free for everyone.)

Great value for the money, breakfast experience could be improved.

Pros: Richly and stylish furnished, as this is one of the few remaining privately-owned inns in the area with historic charms, and an extremely well-maintained too! An army of friendly employees that keep the place extremely clean and tidy. We were offered a free shuttle to the nearby station (very convenient, since parking in this area of NJ is a nightmare). Extremely convenient located next to a restaurant and 287 exit. A wonderful inside court with fireplace.

Cons: Breakfast definitely sub-par. Definitely too few sitting places in comparison to the size of the hotel. Proximity to the 287 is a double-edge sword, since outward facing rooms tend to be pretty noisy from traffic.

Quaint and charming

Pros: Loved the atmosphere and decor snd it was so peaceful

Pros: The proximity to Highway was great, while still being quiet. Also loved having direct room access from parking lot. Breakfast was very good, including variety.

A real gem

Pros: This is a delightful place that is even better than it might appear from the description on the website. The staff were friendly and helpful; the room was exceptionally well-appointed and comfortable - mine had a full kitchenette supplied with all one needed, a closet with a good iron and ironing board, an extra sink outside the bathroom, all needed supplies, good plugs for working, an excellent desk and office chair, a very comfortable bed, table, and more.

Fine if you just need a bed for the night

Pros: Clean and comfortable though not exactly my taste in terms of interior decoration. Good beds. Excellent soundproofing; very quiet though located right next to a busy Interstate highway. Efficient air-conditioning though rather noisy; no option to regulate the fan speed.

Cons: The hot breakfast buffet was rather disappointing. Limited choices, coffee of inferior quality, cramped space, more like a slightly wider hallway than a breakfast room (let alone a restaurant). More like what you expect at a Comfort Inn or similar chains.

We always have a very nice and comfortable stay every time we go .

Pros: The breakfast is always good, we enjoy the coffee, and the nice hot breakfast during the Weekdays. The staff is very friendly, and our room is always very clean. The location is nice, and the building is very pretty inside.

Pros: The Personnel at the reception was very helpful to rearrage my reservation due to unexpected addition of my family, without additional charges!
