Pros: I was a bit worried about the hotel after reading some of the recent reviews, but we actually had a good time! Room was huge for NYC standards and yet very affordable. Room and bathroom were clean and the water in the shower was boiling hot and had great pressure. We also had a nice view of the Empire State Building
Cons: Couldn’t get the WiFi to work. They charged us 10 dollars to store our bags for a few hours

Pros: excellent location, cleanliness was sufficient, towels were changed every day and bed linen was made regularly.
Cons: The windows were not clean and therefore we had no view of the city. It is true that we did not spend much time in the room, but the windows could have been cleaner. We also did not have shower soaps replenished upon check-in, nor were they replenished during the entire stay.

Excellent essentials, but missing some desirables
Pros: Excellent location right in the heart of Midtown and only a 5min walk from Grand Central station. The room was well sized and the bed was comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful, storing my bags for free for the day after checkout and helping my friend to change rooms after discovering as fault with her AC.
Cons: The hotel feels a little dated, with rickety elevators, chipped and scuffed wooden furniture and older TVs in the rooms that only have cable. The wifi did not exist at all in my room on the higher floors, and there is no in-hotel dining options.

You pay for a comfortable and convenient stay but not necessarily luxurious
Pros: 1. The room is MASSIVE. Not even just because it's in NYC - it's the largest hotel room I've ever been in that wasn't a suite or with 2 double/queen beds. My friend and I had 2 large check-in luggages each and we still had more than enough space to each have our own spatious side of the room. Mattress and pillows were a dream to sleep on. Our room also had a fantastic view of the Empire State Building. Bathroom was fairly spacious also with a roomy shower and had good water pressure. 2. Staff were great - front desk was very welcoming at check-in and we availed of their taxi flat-rate upon check-out going to JFK. Housekeeping was also good, room always felt refreshed and clean everyday. 3. Location just 5-mins from Grand Central which makes the entire NYC accessible. Fantastic places to eat also within just 5-10 mins walk.
Cons: 1. The room telephone doesn't work - very frustrating that I had to go down myself to the front desk just for a simple question 2. No drinking glasses available - I can maybe see why they don't already come with the room upon check-in but I find it very strange that there isn't any upon request 3. Many busted lights in the room - closet, side table, maybe more because there were several switches that didn't do anything 4. Lobby and elevator furnishings are not impressive - while I feel like the bulk of what you pay for is for the sheer size of the room, I wish they made the effort to make the lobby and elevator feel more on par with their 4-star rating

Great location!! Outdated but spacious room.
Pros: Perfect location!! The hotel is just a few minutes away to Grand Central Station. If you're an avid walker, most of the main tourist spots are walking distance - Summit One (8mins), Empire State (12min), Rockefeller (16min), Times Square (20min), etc. The room is very spacious and there's a fridge which is nice. The staff are nice and helpful. Shower has good water pressure. The fitness centre is also okay-ish. Looks big in the photo but not really in person but it has good exercise machine & space to do yoga/pilates.
Cons: The airconditioning isn't working properly, we can barely feel it! We visited in April and got lucky with nice sunny weather but after a day of walking, the room won't feel cold even if we put it to the lowest temp! The staff can't do anything about it. The room looks outdated and old but okay enough & spacious - we kinda expected it cos of the other reviews but still hits differently once you see it. We can only connect to the wifi in the lobby and area of the room which is close to the door - can't connect properly tbh! The towels and beddings are clean but not so much and poor quality. No coffee or tea and kettle in the room - seems like its not common in the US. It doesn't really meet the hotel expectations for the price we pay - but i guess that's Manhattan area e 🤷
