Hyatt House New York/Chelsea

Perfect!

Pros: My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt House Chelsea for 17 days. We truly made it our home during that time. The staff were very friendly and kind. The hotel is new, with a beautiful view. The bathroom was great. Thank you to all the hotel staff.

Pros: The location is perfect, staff friendly and accommodating, would recommend to family and friends.

Comfortable, spacious rooms with great city views. Centrally located base for exploring Manhattan.

Pros: Larger than expected room. Modern, clean and very comfortable. Great city views, both from the room and especially from the roof terrace. Short walk to two subway lines. Great base for exploring Manhattan. 20 minute walk to Times Square. Very helpful and friendly reception staff. Cooked breakfast options available with really nice coffee.

Cons: Breakfast choice was rather limited, and popular items (e.g. pain-au-chocolat) would disappear quickly.

A stressful error by Hyatt ruined an otherwise wonderful trip

Pros: Location - close to subway, restaurants & some tourist attractions. Breakfast included Room was functional

Cons: Lifts - slow, crowded, long wait times depending on time of day but most frustrating was the housekeeping staff also had to use the same 2 lifts as the guests and they were constantly in and out with large cleaning trolleys and linen carriers. Management overcharged us by around $8,400 Australian dollars, apparently due to a glitch in their system. This left us with no money at all and a very stressful wait while it was sorted. We had set up auto payments for our household bills while we were on holiday and these all failed as there was no money left when Hyatt mistakenly overcharged us by approx $8,400. We moved on to our next accommodation in Washington and struggled to check in there as our credit card was declined due to the error by Hyatt. Instead of enjoying the last half of our holiday, we were stressed about how to manage on the other side of the world (home is Australia), with no money. It took about 4 days to come back into our account. We were never notified of the error or contacted by management or offered any assistance to get by while out of pocket by such a substantial sum of money. As we checked out of the hotel, the concierge offered us some Hyatt points to use on our next stay. We politely declined as we are not comfortable to stay with Hyatt ever again. No financial assistance, assistance with food or accommodation was offered at any stage and no formal apology or contacted by management. We were informed on checkout that the general manager was downstairs if we would like to speak to him. We accepted the offer but was promptly told he was in a meeting, no contact from him since. Our advice to fellow travellers is to beware of this, check your bank statements and do not expect the hotel to help you out even when it is their mistake. A real shame because apart from this major issue, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Great location, spacious room

Pros: Excellent location, comfortable and quiet room, requests regarding room position were taken into account, friendly and helpful staff, amazing Empire State Building view.

Pros: Location is great, stayed in this hôtel for é weekend and got a free floor upgrade. We had a room with kitchen and that was very convenient for a long stay. Also breakfast is a great bonus, however we didn’t use it that much as it was always the same

Cons: In the middle of our stay we found a cockroach in our bathroom, we asked at the lobby to do smth with it. We were told that they would check for it, however nothing was done and we managed to kill it by ourselves.

Excellent hotel, great location 10/10

Pros: We visited from the UK for my wife's birthday, with our two teenagers. We stayed on the 18th floor and had an amazing dual aspect view. Room was sizeable with two large beds and a separate kitchen area with breakfast bar. The complimentary breakfast was great with a choice of cereals, breads, waffles, eggs, and bacon or sausages. There was also always fresh fruit, yoghurt and tea / coffee available. Be mindful that it could get very busy if you go down too late We went down most days 7-7.30am. Gym facilities were good though it is a small area so could get crowded. Great location, 10 minutes from Empire State Building and 20 from Times Square. Overall we were very happy and would definitely stay here again.
